Sleep update....

A few weeks ago I blogged about the cruelty of sleep deprivation Click here for the post.. We were utterly at our wits end with tiredness, the shine had been taken off our life and we needed help. After talking to Brenda Brenda's website.we decided to cut out son 2's morning nap in an effort to help him sleep through the night. I realise everyone has their own opinion on this, but I was surprised at some of the negative comments I've received and have had to take the step of moderating comments from now on, which saddens me. I'm just too tired to respond to people who don't agree with imposing a routine on babies and toddlers at the moment.

Anyway an update! We have success! For the first time in son 2's short life he has slept through the night! He is like another child, he is happy, smiles more and is eating better. More to the point he has now stopped biting us, which quite frankly was getting painful. I wonder why being in a set routine and sleeping through the night has given him the idea that biting is no longer welcomed? Any ideas?

  1. So pleased for you that you have finally got a sleeping toddler and that you have managed to get results so quickly. What a bonus that the biting has ceased as well. You must be so pleased. :0)

    1. We are, I feel like a new woman I really do! Amazing what a difference a full nights sleep makes. I still have no real idea why he's suddenly stopped biting?!

  2. Hi there,

I've been reading your blog and then also seeing some of the backlash that you've received. I think it's a case of you needing to do what is best for your family and I'm so happy that it's working for you. Me, I'm a nightmare without sleep so when my boys slept through it was good for us all lol.

Hope the little one has a good night tonight :-)

    1. Thank you, it has been a really hard week for me but I am better as I have had some sleep! He slept through last night though up at 5.30 am which is early, but still better!x

  3. What a relief! I can only think that the biting has stopped as he is no longer frustrated and desperately tired. Just an idea, no clue really!

  4. That's a shame that people are adding negative comments to your posts. What works for one family might not work for another... people need to realize that. And I think Suzanne might be right about the biting. It might be that he's not as tired and frustrated.

    1. Thanks. Some of the comments were very abusive and I was shocked and distressed mothers who claimed to be empathic to their children could be so unempathic to me, a fellow human being. Thanks for your lovely comment though and I think you are right about the biting.x

    2. I know this is several months after this was written, but the abuse that you received from other bloggers shocked me to the core and I have actually just written a blog about it (naming no names, but those who claim to be "gentle" types really seem to be the worst). Anyway, Operation Sleep Through is commencing in this household tonight, wish me luck :)
